So, in this post I’m sharing deliciously fun, healthy, low carb, and spooky desserts you can eat during Halloween that won’t ruin your low carb or keto diet. Bonus: Some of these are also gluten free!

While there are definitely savory keto snacks that you can eat, and many keto Halloween recipes (deviled egg eyeballs for example) and generally low carb recipes, a lot of people struggle with keto friendly desserts on Halloween. 

So, I’m gonna list some ideas for low carb Halloween recipes and low carb Halloween treats, and also give you some ideas on how to decorate them, to make them perfect for your Halloween party!

Let’s get into guilt free low carb Halloween recipes that will fit your meal plan and diet, not raise your blood sugar, and still be delicious.

Apple “Cookies” With Peanut Butter

You can go many ways with decorating these to make them spooky – when you cut apples to thin and wide slices, you can use a cookie cutter to cut it into a shape – a bat for example, or a pumpkin. Or, if you leave it a circle, you can add edible eyes on them. 

Ingredients

  • 1 Apple, small – 77 calories
  • 3 Tbsp Peanut butter (Tbsp) – 282 calories
  • 1 Cinnamon, dash – 0 calories

Instructions

  1. Slice apple as depicted in picture 
  2. Spread peanut butter on each slice 
  3. Top with cinnamon
  4. No nuts? Use a seed butter e.g. sunflower seed butter

Apple “Samoas”

269 calories

The decoration ideas can be the same as the ones above. Plus, for these ones, you can drizzle the caramel in a pattern – to make spider webs for example.

Ingredients

  • 1 Apple, small – 77 calories
  • ⅔ Tbsp Chocolate chips – 46.9 calories
  • 1 Tbsp Coconut chips – 45 calories
  • 1 oz Caramel – 100 calories

Instructions

  1. Slice apples as shown in picture. Cut out core of slices.
  2. Melt caramel in microwave for ~60 seconds.
  3. Drizzle caramel on top of apple slices.
  4. Top with chocolate chips and coconut flakes.
  5. Note: 2/3 Tbsp = 2 tsp (for chocolate chips)
  6. Bonus tip: make 2 “cookies” & eat the other apple slices on the side, to make the 2 “cookies” have a good amount of toppings!

Apple And “Reese’s” Dip

You can put fake spider webs on both sides of the small bowl or ramekin in which you’re serving the dip, to make it look like a spider (so the bowl is the body of the spider and you’re adding the legs).

Ingredients

  • 1 Apple, small – 77 calories
  • 1 Tbsp Peanut butter (Tbsp) – 94 calories
  • 1 Tbsp Chocolate chips – 70 calories

Instructions

  1. Mix peanut butter and chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl, microwave for 30-45 seconds, until you can blend. If you want to be extra mindful, look for sugar free chocolate.

Apple Cookies With Dried Cranberries

These easy keto halloween treats are super simple to make. 

Ingredients

  • ½ Apple, small – 38.5 calories
  • 2 Tbsp Cranberries, dried, sweetened (Tbsp) – 40 calories
  • 4 tsp Peanut butter (tsp) – 124 calories
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon – 0 calories

Instructions

  1. Slice apple as shown in picture. 1/2 apple = about 2 thick slices  
  2. Spread PB on apples 
  3. Top with cranberries and cinnamon
  4. No nuts? Use a seed butter, e.g. sunflower seed butter.
  5. On the go & can’t make these “cookies”? Have 1 apple + 1 Tbsp peanut butter instead

Baked Apples

This is a delicious Halloween treat. You can add eyes on top, and then spider legs on the bottom, to make them look like spiders.

Ingredients

  • 1 Apple, small – 77 calories
  • ⅛ cup Oatmeal, dry oats (uncooked) – 37.5 calories
  • 3 tsp Brown sugar – 51 calories
  • 1 tsp Vanilla – 0 calories
  • ½ Tbsp Butter (Tbsp) – 51.5 calories
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon – 0 calories

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Slice apple in half and scoop out the center, just where the seeds are, with a knife (be careful) or spoon.
  3. Melt butter in the microwave ~20 seconds, or until it liquifies.
  4. In a small bowl combine butter, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and oats. Stir until mixed evenly.
  5. Fill apple centers with mixture.
  6. Bake apples for 20 minutes, or until soft and fragrant.
  7. No dairy? Use coconut oil.

Banana “Snickers”

You can also add tiny legs on these to make them look like a long bug.

Ingredients

  • ½ Banana – 52.5 calories
  • 2 Tbsp Chocolate chips – 140 calories
  • ⅛ cup Peanuts (cups) – 96 calories
  • 1 Salt, dash – 0 calories

Instructions

  1. Slice banana in half, lengthwise
  2. Place nuts in a small container (like a baggie) and crush with a hard object (e.g. a hammer, or similar kitchen equipment)
  3. Place chocolate chips in a small container, microwave for ~30 seconds until melted
  4. Top banana slices with chocolate and nuts
  5. Either eat as they are now, or freeze for a few hours
  6. No nuts? Use pumpkin or sunflower seeds

Blueberry Chocolate Bites

289 calories

You can add some bat “wings” to these to make them look like tiny bats.

Ingredients

  • ⅛ cup Blueberries, fresh – 8.75 calories
  • 4 Tbsp Chocolate chips – 280 calories
  • 1 Salt, dash – 0 calories

Instructions

  1. Melt chocolate chips in a small bowl in the microwave for ~60 seconds, mix with a spoon and keep heating in 30 second intervals until smooth
  2. Fill muffin tin with chocolate. Either use a silicone muffin tin, or line a small baking sheet with wax paper and make small circle shapes without a muffin tin.
  3. Makes 4 “mini muffin” bites; or 2 regular sized “muffin” bites. The picture is using a mini muffin silicone muffin tin.
  4. Top with fruit and salt.
  5. Let chill in freezer for at least 10 minutes
  6. Note: Pomegranate seeds are also shown in the picture – use 1/2 pomegranate seeds and 1/2 blueberries if you like, but sticking with just blueberries is absolutely fine – and cheaper!

Candy Corn Trail Mix

Candy corn can be swapped out for any number of keto candies there are out there on the market. The idea is simple, sweet and salty trail mix for your Halloween themed snack or event.

Ingredients

¼ cup Nuts – 200 calories

15 Candy corn – 110 calories

Directions

  1. Combine nuts and candy corn in a small bowl.
  2. Feel free to use any nut/seed you prefer. Roasted & salted nuts are fine.

Baked Pears

When you’re on a low carb or keto diet, you’ll want to watch out for sweeteners with a higher net carbs per serving, so replace the maple syrup for one with sugar alcohols like stevia or yacon syrup.

Ingredients

1 Pear – 103 calories

3 Tbsp Pecans (Tbsp) – 141 calories

4 tsp Maple Syrup (tsp) – 68 calories

1 tsp Cinnamon – 0 calories

½ tsp Vanilla – 0 calories

¼ tsp Salt – 0 calories

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Slice pear in half. Core out the seeds, using a knife or teaspoon. Cut a small sliver off the bottom of the pears, so that the pears don’t tip over when baking.
  3. Place pears in an oven-safe container and bake for 15 minutes.
  4. While the pears are baking, mash pecans in a plastic bag with a hard object like an ice cream scoop. Mix together the pecans, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt.
  5. Take pears out of the oven, pour mixture over pear halves and bake for another 15 minutes.

Stove Top Apples

Ingredients

1 Apple, medium – 95 calories

1½ Tbsp Butter (Tbsp) – 155 calories

1 tsp Cinnamon – 0 calories

¼ tsp Salt – 0 calories

Directions

  1. Dice apple
  2. Melt 1 Tbsp butter in a small pan on the stove top
  3. Stir fry the apple on lowest heat for ~15 minutes, adding in the rest of the butter midway through
  4. Top with cinnamon (and nutmeg and/or pumpkin pie spice if you like!) and salt, and mix together
  5. Transfer to a mug or small bowl and enjoy!
  6. No butter? Use coconut oil

3 Ingredient Banana Cookies

293 calories

You can make these look like cookie monsters! Or spiders, or bats.

Ingredients

  • 0.3 Tbsp Cacao powder – 6 calories
  • 1 Banana – 105 calories
  • ½ cup Oatmeal, dry oats (uncooked) – 150 calories
  • 2 tsp Sugar – 32 calories

Instructions

  1. Mash banana with a fork.
  2. Combine all ingredients and mix evenly.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Spoon mixture evenly onto tray and bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
