Avocado toast has got to go down as one of my all-time favorite breakfast items. Have you tried it before? The creaminess and pungent, earthy flavor from the avocado paired with salty, crunchy bacon, and a delicate, poached egg creates the most delicious and savory bite to kickstart the day.

Avocado is one of the healthiest and most filling foods for breakfast. There’s no wonder why its a superfood. It’s packed with tons of nutritional value and is also super easy to prepare, taking hardly any time at all. You can also save even more time on this breakfast idea by preparing your seasoning in advance to make a big batch if needed and make the prepping feel like a breeze.

While there are a lot of ways you can go when it comes to avocado breakfast ideas. Today, I’m sharing a round-up of seasoning ideas that you can put on avocado toast. Hope you enjoy!

What Seasoning To Put On Avocado Toast

When it comes to avocado toast toppings and seasonings, there are a lot of different directions you could go. Try either one of these seasonings whether you’re wanting to keep things simple and classic or venture off into the more adventurous flavors.

Fresh herbs

There’s a lot of ways to go when it comes to fresh herbs, but oregano, basil, mint and dill are worthy contenders to be added to the avocado toast. They each have their own flavor profile, all strong, earthy, and pungent. You can switch it up to see which one you lean towards more. Basil is my preference, however they each bring their own unique taste!

Bagel seasoning

This seasoning is made up of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and salt, which lends itself to having a savory flavor with slightly nutty and pungent notes.

Crushed red pepper

If you don’t mind the spice, then drizzle some red pepper flakes onto your avocado toast. The crushed red pepper will bring up the heat that the creaminess of the avocado will help cool down.

Flaky sea salt

You can never go wrong with simply adding salt. You can also try pink Himalayan salt for extra crunch.

Pepper

Not ready to dive into full on heat with the red pepper flakes, then crack some black pepper onto your avocado toast for a milder version of the heat.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice is tart and citrusy so a little goes a long way. Lemon juice helps to brighten up the dish. You don’t want to go too heavy on the lemon juice. A simple drizzle will do just fine.

Extra virgin olive oil

Although avocado has its own heart healthy fats, a drizzle of olive oil on the toast is all you really need to soak up the flavorings and add a mild flavor profile.

Balsamic vinegar

The dark balsamic vinegar on top of avocado toast adds a bit of tang to be enjoyed. But don’t go overboard with this addition. A slight drizzle should do the trick.

Garlic

Garlic just makes everything taste better. Whether you have it minced or the dried garlic seasoning, try topping your avocado toast with garlic for a rich and delicious bite.

Feta cheese

Cheese just makes everything taste better. While you’re in search of seasonings to add, try your hand at crumbled feta cheese. Feta has a tangy and salty profile that also adds another layer of creaminess to the dish.

Bacon bits

Does bacon count as a seasoning or garnish? Haha. Whether you have bacon bits or frying up a fresh slice, there’s absolutely no way I can talk about avocado toast without recommending you throw bacon into the mix. The crunchy combination against the creaminess of the avocado just has a winning combination worth trying.

Onion

We can’t mention garlic, without also getting you to try out onion as a seasoning. Although strong and overpowering, onions on avocado toast just elevates the flavor profile whether you have the onion powder or chopping up some fresh onions to top things off.
